According to the Universal Encyclopedia, Ardisa is a town council belonging to the province of Zaragoza, situated at 80 Kms in the northeast of his capital, in the Huesca province´s boundary, at 433 m above sea level. It has a population of 80 inhabitants and 21,8 kms watered by the river Gállego.

  • Artisitic/cultural heritage:
  •      Ballesta castle.
         Chapel of the Miramonte Virgin (romanesque XII century).
  • Ardisa is a pre-Indoeuropean toponym and Don Ubieto Arteta referring to this place tells us:
  •       A place in 1495.
          A small village in 1785.
          Sobrecullida de Tarazona (1495), Vereda de Tarazona (1646), Corregimiento de Cinco Villas (1711-1833).Ayuntamiento, con el Coto Redondo de Ballestar (1834) Administrative area of Ejea.
         In 1845 Casa de Espés and Sierra de Blancos join to it.

  • Land property: In 1610 Ardisa belonged to Don Miguel de Gurrea.
  •      In 1785 to the crown.
  • Evolution of its population:
         1.495, 16 fires; 1.543, 16 fires; 1.609, 16 fires; 1.646, 31 fires, with Sierra de Blancos y Espes; 1.713, 14 neighbours; 1.717, 5 neighbours ; 1.722, 6 neighbours; 1.787, 5 neighbours; 1.797, 16 neighbours; Madoz, 44 houses, 41 neighbours y 196 souls; 1.857, 322 inhabitants and in 1.970 142 inhabitants.

         The Great Aragonese Encyclopedia verifies that in 1.900 it had 502 inhabitants; in 1.950, 392; and in 1.978, 118.
